Dubois County Bombers Defeats Owensboro Oilers Despite Allowing 3-Run Inning


Despite allowing three runs in the fifth inning, the Dubois County Bombers defeated the Owensboro Oilers 12-5 on Wednesday. The Oilers' big inning was driven by a fielder's choice and a home run by Jose Martinez Jr..

THe Bombers took an early lead in the second inning. Dubois County scored one run when Craig Shepherd singled with zero outs in the second inning.

Dubois County took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Jake Slunder hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and Camdon Mercier singled off of Jacob Curry, driving in one run.

The Bombers scored five runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a grand slam by Zack Gray.

Tyler Hagedorn earned the win for Dubois County. He threw six innings, allowing five runs, seven hits, striking out five, and walking zero. Two relievers helped the Bombers close out the victory. Cole Berry threw two innings. Curry took the loss for Owensboro. He pitched five innings, allowing six runs, nine hits, and striking out three.

The Bombers had 14 hits in the game. Shepherd, Mercier, Roman Trujillo, and Anthony Sanchez each collected multiple hits for Dubois County. Mercier and Shepherd each managed three hits to lead the Bomberse.

The Oilers collected ten hits. Cody Jackson and Jose Martinez Jr. each collected multiple hits for Owensboro.
