​Early Lead For Hoptown Hoppers Seals Fate For Fulton Railroaders


Fulton Railroaders watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-3 loss to Hoptown Hoppers on Thursday. Hoptown Hoppers took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

Hoptown Hoppers got things started in the first inning when Jacob Jenkins homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Cam Barlow led the Hoptown Hoppers to victory on the mound. He went eight innings, allowing three runs on ten hits, striking out ten and walking zero. Brennan Crooms threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Crooms recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Hoptown Hoppers.

Ben Kowalski took the loss for Fulton Railroaders. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out eight and walking zero.

Fulton Railroaders launched one home run on the day. Davis Lott had a dinger in the sixth inning. Fulton Railroaders tallied ten hits. Luke McKenzie, Garrett Guymon, and O’Neil Burgos all managed multiple hits for Fulton Railroaders. Burgos, Guymon, and McKenzie all had two hits to lead Fulton Railroaders.
Hoptown Hoppers had 11 hits in the game. Charlie Fischer, Jenkins, Ben Huber, and Micah Genter each collected multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Hoptown Hoppers was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Cade Burkey made the most plays with 12.
