Hoptown Hoppers Can't Catch Up To Franklin Duelers

Hoptown Hoppers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 19-6 loss to Franklin Duelers on Sunday. Franklin Duelers scored on a walk by Joey Fletcher, a walk by Tim Blankenberger, a groundout by Jared Cox, and a single by Sean Becker in the first inning.

Despite the loss, Hoptown Hoppers did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Franklin Duelers had 13 hits on the way to victory.

In the first inning, Franklin Duelers got their offense started. Fletcher drew a walk, scoring one run.
Hoptown Hoppers tallied four runs in the third inning. Drew McGowan, Jacob Jenkins, Robbie McCargar, and Charlie Fischer all drove in runs in the frame.

Franklin Duelers scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Franklin Duelers came thanks to a single by Fletcher, an error on a ball put in play by Travis Faix, and a double by Orlando Arevalo.

Trevor Beards pitched Franklin Duelers to victory. He allowed 12 hits and six runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking zero. Brant Alazaus threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Clay Simpson took the loss for Hoptown Hoppers. He went three and a third innings, allowing ten runs on four hits and striking out four.

Hoptown Hoppers scattered 13 hits in the game. Cameron Hill, Michael Conn, Fischer, Jenkins, and Micah Genter all collected multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Hill went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Hoptown Hoppers in hits.

Franklin Duelers racked up 13 hits in the game. Becker, Fletcher, Arevalo, and James Marcinkowski all managed multiple hits for Franklin Duelers. Franklin Duelers was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Blankenberger made the most plays with nine.
