Hoptown Outlasts the Chiefs, 14-3


The Hoptown Hoppers faced off with the visiting Paducah Chiefs for the OVL season opener at The Hop in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on Thursday night. The Hoppers got on the board early with a run in the first inning and then followed that up with 4 more runs in the 2nd inning and 7 runs in the 3rd. Highlights from the 2nd inning include a 2-run home run by Nolen Milton to deep left field and doubles by Cody Cooper and Reese Alexiades. The 3rd inning saw a double by Taylor Fought and another 3 RBI bases clearing double by Ryan Hatten. The Hoppers were held scoreless until the bottom of the 8th inning when Aharon Modlin hit a 2 RBI double to deep left center.

The Chiefs put single runs on the board in the 3rd, 5th and 6th innings featuring a solo home run in the 3rd by Christian Dominguez and a RBI double in the 5th inning by Nick Shumaker.

Luke Brown for the Hoppers went 5 innings giving up all 3 of the Chief’s earned runs. Solid relief performances by Will Acuff, Jonathan Jacks and Dalton Utley. Brown would get the win for the game. Colton Easterwood got the loss for the Chiefs throwing 2 1/3 innings giving up 12 earned runs.

The Hoppers travel to Paducah to face the Chiefs on Friday night.
