Late Score Costs Owensboro RiverDawgs Against Hoptown Hoppers


Tuesday's game against Hoptown Hoppers was a heartbreaker for Owensboro RiverDawgs, as they lost the lead late in an 8-7 defeat. The game was tied at seven with Hoptown Hoppers batting in the top of the eighth when Greg Mehlhaff's sac fly scored one run for Hoptown Hoppers.

Owensboro RiverDawgs got things started in the first inning when Ian Ellis singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Hoptown Hoppers scored four runs in the sixth inning. Wyatt Stevenson and Seth Bennett all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Chandler Kendall led the Hoptown Hoppers to victory on the hill. He went four innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out five. Brennan Crooms threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Crooms recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Hoptown Hoppers.

Cameron Harvey took the loss for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He surrendered one run on zero hits, walking one.

Huston Richter started the game for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He allowed two hits and three runs over five and a third innings, striking out two Will Nash started the game for Hoptown Hoppers. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out two.

Owensboro RiverDawgs totaled nine hits in the game. Parker Stahlman, Nick Sanders, and Bailey Falkenstein all managed multiple hits for Owensboro RiverDawgs. Falkenstein, Sanders, and Stahlman each collected two hits to lead Owensboro RiverDawgs. Owensboro RiverDawgs stole nine bases during the game as three players stole more than one.
