The Oilers did not secure their first hit of the game until the bottom of the 5th inning and Madisonville pitching -- led by starter Austin Henrich limited Owensboro to four hits over all. The Oilers avoided a shutout with 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning. Jakob Shuler walked against the second Madisonville reliever Alex Canul. One out later Chase Andrews hit a 2-RBI home run for the home team. That was all for the rally though, and the 5-2 score became final.
Owensboro starter Michael Rotenberry pitched well but took the loss. Henrich earned the win. There is no save to award, as it was not a save situation when Canul started the bottom of the 9th inning and could not become one for him from that point on.
