The Owensboro Oilers sweep the Paducah Chiefs in a Doubleheader on Friday
The Owensboro Oilers swept a home double header of seven inning games from the visiting Paducah Chiefs on Friday. The final score of the opener was Chiefs
2 to Oilers 3. The final score of the finale was Chiefs 0 to Oilers 3.
In Game 1 --
Owensboro scored first with one run by way of a lead off home run by Andrew "Kirk" Kirkland.
That lone run held up until the top of the 4th inning when Paducah took the lead on two runs.Tate Mathis singled to begin the inning. Mathis scored
when Nick Shumaker followed with a 2 RBI home run of his own.
Owensboro knotted the game with a run in the bottom of the 6th inning. With one out, Tanner Kehrer doubled. One out later, Kehrer came around on an
RBI single from Oilers newcomer Tyler Dipatri. The Oilers won the game with a run in the bottom of the 7th inning -- provided by another Kirkland
The winning pitcher was Owensboro starter Tristan Cone, who went the distance.
The losing pitcher was Paducah reliever Jay Benard.

In Game 2 --
The Oilers scored one run in the bottom of the 3rd inning on Andrew "Kirk" Kirkland's 3rd home run of the twin bill.
Owensboro added a second run in the bottom of the 4th inning. Jose Martinez Jr. led off with a single. and stole second base.
Two walks and one out later, Chase Andrews legged out a RBI fielder's choice that brought Martinez home. The Oilers made it 3-0 with a final run in
the bottom of the 6th inning. Tanner Kehrer walked to begin the inning. Two strikeouts later, Cam Curry drilled a RBI triple to center field.
The winning pitcher was Owensboro starter Koby Silvy. Cam Curry gets credit for a save, and the two were bridged by outstanding scoreless relief work
by Brady Austin.
The losing pitcher was Paducah starter Caleb Reinhardt.
