4-Hit Day For Johnston Earns Henderson Flash Victory Over Dubois County Bombers


Josh Johnston had the hot hand on Tuesday, tallying four hits and leading Henderson Flash to a 11-6 victory over Dubois County Bombers. Johnston singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and doubled in the seventh.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Henderson Flash collected 15 hits and Dubois County Bombers had 12.

Dubois County Bombers opened up scoring in the second inning, when an error scored one run for Dubois County Bombers.
Henderson Flash pulled away for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third Nolan Melton doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Tim Rogers induced Austin Domer to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Johnston singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, Justen Freeman singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, and Gunner Smith drew a walk, scoring one run.

Matthew Craven was the winning pitcher for Henderson Flash. He allowed nine hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out nine. Garrett Simpson and Miller McMatheren entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Brennan LaBarbera took the loss for Dubois County Bombers. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out three.

Henderson Flash scattered 15 hits in the game. Johnston, Trey Hutchison, Freeman, Brandon Boxer, and Melton all managed multiple hits for Henderson Flash. Johnston went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Henderson Flash in hits. Henderson Flash tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Johnston led the way with two.

Dubois County Bombers tallied 12 hits. Matt Ellis, Tyler Van Pelt, Easton Stewart, Bryson McNay, and Austin Duffy each collected multiple hits for Dubois County Bombers. Ellis led Dubois County Bombers with three hits in five at bats.
