Big first inning carriers Bombers over Chiefs, 9-3

PADUCAH -- Dubois County scored four times in the first inning and went on to top Paducah 9-3 Saturday night at Brooks Stadium.

After opening the game with a bunt single and two walks off Chiefs starter Joshua Scheer, the Bombers got an RBI-single from Phillip Archer and, after a double play plated another run, Brandon Smith singled in a run and Anthony Sanchez doubled home another for a 4-0 lead.

The Chiefs took advantage of Dubois starter Cole Berry's wildness in the third, as Nick Schmaker drew a bases loaded walk and Dixon Craft followed by being hit by a pitch to cut the margin to 4-2.

But the Bombers scored two in the fourth and three in the sixth to put the game away.

Three Dubois pitchers held Paducah to four hits, but allowed 10 walks. Tyler Hagedorn earned the win, allowing one run in four innings of relief. Scheer took the loss, yielding six runs in four innings.

Archer had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for Dubois. Travis Regaldo had two of Paducah's hits and drove in a run.
