Franklin Duelers Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory


Owensboro RiverDawgs watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-4 loss to Franklin Duelers on Monday.

Franklin Duelers scored on a grand slam by John Benevolent and a single by Sam Gage in the first inning.

Owensboro RiverDawgs lost despite out-hitting Franklin Duelers 11 to ten.

Franklin Duelers opened up scoring in the first inning. Franklin Duelers scored four runs when Benevolent homered.

Owensboro RiverDawgs scored three runs in the seventh inning. Owensboro RiverDawgs big bats were led by Bailey Falkenstein and Michael Wymann, all driving in runs in the inning.

Trevor Beards was the winning pitcher for Franklin Duelers. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits and striking out seven. Rylan Thomas threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Thomas recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Franklin Duelers.

Holden Martin took the loss for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out one.

Owensboro RiverDawgs tallied 11 hits. Falkenstein, Kirk Liebert, and Josh Bennett each racked up multiple hits for Owensboro RiverDawgs. Falkenstein led Owensboro RiverDawgs with three hits in four at bats.

Franklin Duelers tallied ten hits in the game. Gage and Jordan Blick all managed multiple hits for Franklin Duelers. Gage went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Franklin Duelers in hits.
