Fulton takes second game over Hoptown


The Railroaders swept their 2 game series with the Hoppers on Friday in Fulton. Hoptown now has a single game lead in the West division over the Railroaders. Paducah is 2 games behind the leader after beating Madisonville who is 3 games back in the West.

The Hoppers took an early one run lead when Zach Duvall hit the first game pitch over the center field wall. The Railroaders answered in the bottom of the first inning scoring 2 runs off a 2 RBI homer by Paul Salata, his 7th and leads in the league.

Hoptown tied the game in the 3rd when Michael Rhea singled then score on an Aharon Modin RBI double. Bottom of the 3rd Jake Wikel singled and later score on a Hunter Higdon RBI single to give Railroaders a 3-2 lead.

Fulton pushed the lead forward in the 5th inning. Wikel led off with a double and Paul Salata was intentionally walked (for the second time). Zell Walker followed with a 3 RBI homerun to make it a 6-2 score.

The Railroaders brought in a fresh pitching arm in the top of the 8th inning. Aidan Elias swung at the first pitch to start the inning and hit a solo homerun. After a ground out, the Hoppers loaded the bases with a error, single and walk before reliever Justin Fowls struck out the next two batters. Scoring was now complete.

Fulton's starter Taylor Bobo picked up his second win on the season going 7 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, no walks and had 8 strikeouts. Fowlks finished the final 2 innings with 2 hits, one run, one walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Alex Walker takes the loss for Hoptown pitching 7 innings, giving up 9 hits, 6 earned runs, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Tyler Graham finished the final inning with no hits, runs, walks and one strikeout.
