Hoptown Hoppers Almost Erases 6-Run Deficit In Loss To Madisonville Miners

Madisonville Miners got out to a six-run lead in the fourth inning and held on for a 9-8 victory over Hoptown Hoppers on Sunday. Hoptown Hoppers put up five runs in the failed comeback. Brant Husser, Charlie Fischer, Husser, and Brendan Nee picked up RBIs to lead the rally.

Madisonville Miners collected ten hits and Hoptown Hoppers had 12 in the high-scoring affair.

Madisonville Miners got things started in the first inning. Sam Boese hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

Hoptown Hoppers scored four runs in the eighth inning. Fischer, Husser, and Nee each drove in runs during the inning.

Zack Toth got the win for Madisonville Miners. He allowed four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Justin Hallum and Colton Olasin entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Olasin recorded the last four outs to earn the save for Madisonville Miners.

Clay Simpson took the loss for Hoptown Hoppers. He surrendered seven runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two.

Madisonville Miners launched one home run on the day. Ben Teel went deep in the fourth inning.

Madisonville Miners scattered ten hits in the game. Shayne Lyons, Jacob Council, Teel, and Chris Ammirati each had multiple hits for Madisonville Miners. Lyons led Madisonville Miners with three hits in five at bats.

Hoptown Hoppers collected 12 hits on the day. Jacob Jenkins, Husser, and Seth Bennett all managed multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Jenkins went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Hoptown Hoppers in hits.
