Hoptown Hoppers Can't Quite Erase 6-Run Deficit In Loss To Madisonville Miners

Hoptown Hoppers fought back after falling down by six runs in the second inning. The comeback fell just short though, in an 8-7 defeat to Madisonville Miners on Tuesday. Hoptown Hoppers scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Charlie Fischer in the third, a single by Greg Mehlhaff in the third, a home run by Michael Conn in the sixth, and a single by Mehlhaff in the ninth.

Hoptown Hoppers couldn't keep up with Madisonville Miners early in the game. Madisonville Miners scored on a walk by Michael Sookdeo in the first inning, a sacrifice fly by Cam Diaz in the first inning, a walk by Ricky Sisto in the second inning, a sacrifice fly by Alex Rodriguez in the second inning, and a single by Sookdeo in the second inning.

Madisonville Miners opened up scoring in the first inning. Sookdeo drew a walk, scoring one run.

Hoptown Hoppers put up three runs in the third inning. Fischer and Mehlhaff each had RBIs in the frame.

Madisonville Miners scored four runs in the second inning. The big inning for Madisonville Miners came thanks to by Sisto and Ben Teel, a single by Sookdeo, and a sacrifice fly by Rodriguez.

Mason Libla led the Madisonville Miners to victory on the mound. He surrendered two runs on two hits over two and a third innings, striking out four and walking zero. Tredell Blow threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Blow recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Madisonville Miners.

Hunter Arnold took the loss for Hoptown Hoppers. He lasted one inning, allowing one hit and six runs while striking out two.
Ryan White started the game for Madisonville Miners. He surrendered three runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Hoptown Hoppers tallied one home run on the day. Conn went for the long ball in the sixth inning. Hoptown Hoppers collected ten hits. Conn and Mehlhaff all collected multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Mehlhaff and Conn each collected three hits to lead Hoptown Hoppers.

Madisonville Miners totaled seven hits. Teel and Sisto all managed multiple hits for Madisonville Miners. Teel went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Madisonville Miners in hits.
