The Railroaders defeat the Bombers 5-1 in the first game of the DH


Railroaders 5, Bombers 1 - game 1. (July 13, 2017) In 7 innings. The Railroaders swept the doubleheader over the Bombers in Fulton. The wins moved Fulton into 3rd place in the West Division with 6 games left of the play in the regular season.

Game One: Both teams remained scoreless through the first 3 innings of play. The Bombers scored first in the top of the 4th off a Brandon Smith RBI single driving in Alex Alders who had reached on a fielder's choice. The Railroaders answered in the bottom half of the inning scoring 2 runs from a Paul Salata RBI single and a RBI ground ruled double by Will Acuff.

With a 2-1 lead the Railroaders added more runs in the 6th inning. With the bases loaded, Will Acuff once again doubled to produce 3 RBI to complete the final 5-1 score.

Starter Pablo Arevalo gets the win for a complete 7 innings on the mound. He allowed 6 hits, one earned run, no walks and had 5 strikeouts.

The loss goes to starter Caleb Wagner for a full 6 innings of pitching. He gave up 6 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walks and had 11 strikeouts.
