The Railroaders defeat the Hoppers 8-3


Railroaders 8, Hoppers 3. (July 8, 2017) The Railroaders defeat the Hoppers 8-3 in Fulton to win their third straight game. Fulton had 10 hits, 3 errors and left 9 men on base. Hoptown totaled 8 hits, had one error and stranded 12 runners. There are 2 games remaining between the two teams in the regular season, both in Hopkinsville.


The Railroaders scored one in the 1st inning and the Hoppers scored one in the 2nd to tie. Fulton pulled ahead in the 3rd scoring a single run and two more in the 4th to take a 4-1 lead.

Top of the 5th inning Hoptown put up another run. In bottom of the 6th Fulton extended their lead scoring 3 runs. Both teams added a single run each in the 8th to complete the 8-3 final.

For the Railroaders: Paul Salata went 2 of 3 for 2 RBI with a double and homerun, his 9th on the season. Hunter Higdon and Zell Walker each got 2 hits along with 2 RBI each. Jake Wikel with only one hit but with walks scored 3 times across the plate.
Cody Cooper was best for Hoptown going 3 for 5 with a RBI followed by Aharon Modlin who was 1 of 4, one RBI and one score.

The Fulton win goes to starter Pablo Arevalo for 5 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 runs (one earned), 7 strikeouts and walked no batters.

Hoptown's starter Brice Johnson takes the loss with 4 innings pitched giving up 7 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.
