The Marion Bobcats defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 2-1
The Bobcats got back on their winning ways on Friday in Fulton by a narrow victory over the Railroaders. Marion scored both their runs in the top of the 4th inning after loading the bases and a Caleb Eickhoff 2 RBI single. Fulton put up their only run in the 6th with a 2 out RBI single by Kahtan Al-Kaissy who went 2 of 4 on the evening, the only multi-hit player for either team. Error free defensive play and good pitching were the rule of the evening on both sides with 9 total combined hits, Railroaders 4 and Bobcats 5. Starter and winner Andrew Edward threw for 6 1/3 innings giving up 3 hits, 6 walks and striking out 7. Matthew Vollenweider capped off the bottom of 9th to get a save. Taking the hard loss for Fulton was BJ Sieverding going a full 8 innings allowing 5 hits, 5 walks, and handing out 10 strikeouts. The win for Marion comes after their first two straight losses on the season, while the Railroaders continue to struggle at home, winning only 1 of 7 games played at the "Yard." The Bobcats remain on the road and head to Tradewater on Saturday to face the Pirates who are on a 3 game winning streak. The Railroaders will remain at home on Saturday to host the Oilers who have slipped to 3rd in the standings after their loss in Tradewater on Friday.
