The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 5-4
The Railroaders held on to win against the Oilers and get their second victory at home for 2011. Fulton jumped to a 5-0 lead in 3rd inning using a walk, 4 hits and a wild pitch. Owensboro answered in the top half of the 4th with 3 runs produced from 4 hits and a wild pitch. The Oilers added another run in the 5th to complete the eventual 5-4 score. Outstanding defensive play on both sides created a scoring drought through the remainder of the game, with the Oilers playing error free ball and the Railroaders marked for 2 with no damage. The 8 total Railroader hits were spread evenly among the lineup as were the RBIs, and included a double by Mikee Moore. The Oilers pumped out 10 hits; lead by Ryan Messex and Eric Barnes who both went 3 of 4 with a double each. Both teams stranded 9 runners during the game, but in the end Fulton's run production edged out over the Oilers Starter Roman Kelly threw for 4 innings with no decision. Justin Dailey and Jimmy Ryan both pitched 2 innings in middle relief with Ryan earning the win allowing no runs or walks and striking out two. Tate Glasscock closed the 9th and picked up his 5th save on the year. Starter Cody Williams completed 5 innings and takes the loss for Owensboro. Allen Haase and Austin Clay both combined to finish the mound duties for the Oilers. The teams continue the 3 game series tomorrow in Owensboro with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5 pm.
