The Tradewater Pirates defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 7-0

The Owensboro Oilers were shut out by the visiting Tradewater Pirates Wednesday night by the final score of 7 to 0. The loss results in a split of the two-game series here between the two clubs.  The Pirates scored two runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Tyler McDonald and Sean Noland opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Chris Mitko sacrifice bunted to move them respectively to second and third bases. Both scored on a 2-RBI single by Tony Becerra. Tradewater broke the game open offensively with five runs in the top of the 4th inning. McDonald walked. One out later, Mitko reached on a dropped third strike and an errant play for the put out at first base gave him second base and pushed McDonald to third base. Becerra reached on an error, and David Zorn was hit by a pitch to load the bases. The next Pirate hitter, Eric Herman tripled to collect RBIs for the three runners ahead of him. Herman scored when when JB Sapienza reached on an error before the third out was recorded.  That was the only scoring either team would do for the game, but thanks to the complete game effort of Tradewater starter Kyle Thomas -- who gave up 4 hits, 3 walks, and had 11 Ks -- it was more than enough ... for one night, at least.  Kyle notched the the win for Tradewater. Owensboro starter Zach Krebs took the loss, though only four of the seven runs posted against him were earned.
