The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Tradewater Pirates, 8-4
The Railroaders chased and tied the Pirates through almost 5 innings before finally taking a lead. Tradewater took a 1-0 in the 2nd off a Derrek Etsell solo home run. Fulton tied the game in 3rd with Mikee Moore driven in by a Rob Hogenkamp RBI ground out. Top of the 4th, the Pirates jumped to a 3-1 lead with a 2 RBI double from Sawyer Smith, and the Railroaders answered in the bottom of the inning with RBI doubles from David Simmons follow by another from Mikee Moore. Score tied 3-3, the Pirates regained a one run lead in the 5th with Brock Bontrager reaching on an error, stealing 2nd, reaching 3rd, and then scoring on a RBI groundout. Bottom of the 5th, Rob Hogenkamp lead off with a solo homer of his own to tie the game again at 4 all. The Railroaders tacked on 3 more runs in the 4th and never looked backed, adding one addition run in the 8th for good measure for the final 8-4 tally. Railroaders Mike Moore, Brandon Eggenschwiler and Connor Tracy all went 2 of 4 for Fulton, and Rob Hogenkamp with 2 RBIs. The Pirates only managed 3 hits and Sawyer Smith leading with 2 RBIs. While the Railroaders played catch-up through half the game; starter Skylar Cobb managed 6 2/3 innings striking out 8, walking 2 and allowing 3 earned runs and gets the win for Fulton. Tradewater's Caoeb Luttrell takes the loss after relieving starter Russ Gilliam who left the game tied. The two teams go at it again on Friday in Tradewater.
