The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Tradewater Pirates, 3-1
The Railroaders took another win against the Pirates on the road in Tradewater. Tradewater's summary: It's said that you should never wake a sleeping dog, lest you beg for trouble, and the Tradewater Pirates did just that Friday, allowing Fulton to score runs in the 7th and 8th, to erase a long-standing Pirate lead. The Roaders struck for two runs in the 7th, and one run in the 8th, then watched relief pitching from Dailey and Glasscock support a great effort by starter Miles Canady, to defeat the Pirates 3-1, before a huge crowd at Riverside Park. The Pirates took an early lead, with a run in the first, but never capitalized with runners on base throughout the contest. To Fulton's credit, defense was king tonight, as the Railroaders made one sparkling play after another. The Pirates did themselves no favors, allowing two runners to be picked off in the basepaths, and watching one run erased at the plate by outstanding Fulton defense. All in all, the Roaders played more like a team possessed, schooling the home team before their own partisan crowd. Marion lost, so Fulton and Tradewater are just three games back, with Owensboro slicing the Bobcat lead to two games. The Pirates play two crucial games versus the Oilers Saturday and Sunday. Dylan Delaune pitched well as the starter for Tradewater, but saw his mates do little to support him.
