The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Marion Bobcats, 5-3

After spending the month of June in the basement, the Fulton Railroaders climbed into 1st place by a half game on Thursday defeating the Marion Bobcats in Lohaus Field.  Marion has held a strong top standing since early June, but July has been hard on the Bobcats with a 4-8 record.  Both teams were held in check through the first 3 1/2 innings.  The Railroaders broke the ice in the bottom of the 4th when Joe Mike lead off with a double, then scored on a Connor Tracy RBI single. The Bobcats got back into the game in the 6th scoring 2; Tyler Bailey doubled, advanced to 3rd then scored on a wild pitch, and AJ Dokey followed with a single, stole 2nd and scored on a Caleb Eickhoff RBI ground out.  Marion took a 3-1 lead in the 7th scoring another run by Cody Schmitt on a Landon Weitekamp RBI single.  Fulton tied the game 3 all in the bottom half of the 7th capitalizing on a costly Bobcat error while trying to turn a doubleplay with bases loaded and 1 out.  The Railroaders retook the lead pounding out 2 more in the 8th with 2 men aboard and driven in by a Connor Tracy 2 out double.  While both teams played good defense overall, each had 3 errors.  But Fulton escaped error damaged while Marion's resulted in 3 unearned runs and was the difference in the game. The Railroaders had 7 totals hits with Marion punching out 8.  Connor Tracy lead the Fulton offense going 2 of 3, 3 RBIs and scoring once.  Cameron Chestnut bested for Marion with 2 of 4 and scoring once.  Roman Kelly started on the mound for Fulton leaving the game tied after 6 2/3 innings.  Miles Canady threw 1 1/3 innings and wins the game.  Tate Glasscok closed out the 9th picking up his 8th save.  Marion's starter Todd Brazell went 6 1/3 innings and was relieved after tying up the game.  Stephen Glaze finished the game with the winning runs against him and takes the loss.
