The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 13-2
The Oilers dismantled the Railroaders on Tuesday and moved from 3rd to 1st place by a half game in the standings. Dalton Lykins made it a no contest with 2 homeruns totaling 5 RBIs, and Gabrial Pena adding a 3 RBIs with a homer of his own. The Railroaders made it a 3-2 ballgame in the 4th scoring on an error and a RBI single from David Simmons, but Lykins's second homer regained the 3 point lead in the 6th. Owensboro added 6 runs in the 7th to command the game, then tacked on 1 more in the 8th & 9th to seal Fulton's fate. Oilers' starter Cody Williams went only 2 innings before being pulled for reasons unknown. Brad Pressley pitched 1 2/3 innings before Davey Murphy came in briefly recording no outs. Jim Mulnavey took over the mound duties the 4th with 2 outs and continued through the 8th, he gets the wins. Austin Clay completed the 9th. BJ Sieverding started and lost the game for Fulton throwing for 6 1/3 innings giving up 9 hits and 10 earned runs. Fulton used 4 additional pitchers in relief of the losing cause. The teams go at it again tomorrow, Wednesday, in Owensboro to complete their regular season meetings for the year. The Bobcats dropped both games of their doubleheader with the Pirates and slip 1.5 games behind Owensboro, the Pirates pick up a game and are now just 2 games behind the leader.
