The Tradewater Pirates defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 7-3

The Owensboro Oilers lost the second game of their best-of-three first round playoff series to the visiting Tradewater Pirates. The final score was 7 to 3. Tradewater needed the win to remain in the series, now tied at 1-1.  The Pirates scored first on one run in the top of the 4th inning. Derrek Etsell walked to lead off, and stole second base. He moved to third base on a groundout, then came in on a RBI sacrifice fly by Tony Beccera. Tradewater added two runs in the top of the 5th inning. Eric Silakowski led off with a single. David Zorn and Brock Bontrager both walked -- loading the bases. J.B. Sapienza reached on an error that allowed Silakowski to score, and kept the bases loaded. Bill Pace followed with a RBI single for Zorn. Etsell reached on a fielder's choice the Oilers employed to outs at the plate and third base. Out three followed that. The Pirates scored four more runs in the top of the 8th inning. With one out Becerra reached and moved to second base on an error. Tyler McDonald singled, sending Becerra to third base. Silakowski reached on an error that allowed Becerra across the plate as McDonald moved up a base. Zorn singled to load the bases. Bontrager RBI singled to score McDonald. Sapienza RBI walked in Silakowski. Zorn came home on a RBI sacrifice fly by Pace. Then a pop fly ended the half-inning with Tradewater ahead 7 to 0.  The Oilers rallied late with one run in the bottom of the 8th inning and two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning. In the 8th inning,  Ty Stetson reached on an error, then Ryan Stephens and Drew Barrett singled back-to-back to load the bases. An inning of potential collapsed with two strikeouts and an infield fly -- but not before Stetson scored from third base on a wild pitch. In the 9th inning, Ty Broady walked to lead off. Gabriel Pena was hit by a pitch. A strikeout later, Stetson walked to load the bases. Ryan Stephens followed with a 2- RBI single that drove in Broady and Pena. The Pirates secured a flyout and groundout to end the inning and the game with the final 7 to 3 in Tradewater's favor.  The must win for the Pirates went to starter Kyle Thomas, who went eight impressive innings of 1-run ball. Oilers starter Myles Scott got the loss.
