The Marion Bobcats defeated the Madisonville Pirates, 11-1
What comes to mind is, things like shipwreck.....held captive......marauding thieves......stranded. All these things seemed to come alive in Madisonville Wednesday, as the Tradewater Pirates, for the second night in a row, lost big to Ohio Valley League competition, this time at the hands of the Marion Bobcats, who avenged an opening-season loss to Tradewater just a few short nights ago. Darren Travers, this time around, spun some magic and came up big for the Bobbies. The Pirates, who have lost by a combined 18-2 over the course now, of two games (7-1, 11-1), simply can't find the plate. The shipwrecked crew were, yes, held captive by a marauding band of Bobbies, as the Buccos stranded runner after runner, for the second evening in a row. The ship leaked early, and often, as timely hitting did not materialize.
Marion unbuckled the swashbuckling Mates inning after inning, scoring big, time and time again, to move the Pirate record to 2-2. The sabres were sharpened, and the cannons set....but alas, for the Pirates, their powder was wet. Michael Purcell took the loss, as the Pirates looked anemic at the plate, with no medicine in sight just yet. Perhaps the Fulton Railroaders will be the remedy Thursday night, 7pm, at Elmer Kelley.
