The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 7-3
In 11 innings. The Owensboro Oilers lost to the visiting Fulton Railroaders on Tuesday night in Owensboro. The final score was 7 to 3 in another extra inning home game, this time 11 innings.
The Oilers scored first with one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Matt Johnson walked to lead off the inning. He stole second base, and came the rest of the way around on groundouts. Austin Edge collected the RBI. The Railroaders answered with one run in the top of the 3rd inning. With one out, Erik Manning reached on an error. Mikee More and Rob Hogenkamp singled back to back, loading the bases. Manning scored on a RBI foul sacrifice fly by Angelo Burrage before another fly out ended the frame tied 1-1.
Owensboro came right back with a run in the bottom of the third inning. With one away, Josh Salmon reached on a bunt. Dalton West followed with a single that sent Salmon to second base. Salmon scored as Matt Johnson reached on an error. Fulton tied the game again with a run in the top of the 5th inning. With one out, Manning singled. An out later Hogenkamp walked. Manning scored on a RBI single by Burrage.
The Oilers took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 8th inning. Edge singled to start. Colin Buckner reached safely on a bunt sacrifice, then Colton Slank sacrifice bunted both runners forward. After Taylor Mathews walked Edge came across on a RBI sacrifice fly by Tyler Tichenor. The Railroaders got the tying run they needed in the top of the 9th inning. Andrew Cash reached on an error. A strikeout later, Mikee More singled. Cash and More executed a double steal of third and second bases. Hogenkamp plated Cash by reaching on an RBI bunt. Burrage was intentionally walked to load the bases and a double play kept the game tied.
The score remained 3-3 until Fulton scored four runs in the top half of the 11th inning. Scoring were Hogenkamp (single), Joe MiKe (single), Rick Linton (single), and Austin Bryant (single). Bryant collected one RBI in the inning and Brock Downey added a 2-RBI double. Fulton reliever Cody Alvey hung around for the win. Owensboro reliever Jay Hachmiester had the misfortune to lose his second game in as many appearances.
