The Hoptown Hoppers held on to beat the Railroaders in Fulton on Sunday and moved into 1st place alone, a half game ahead of Marion. The Hoppers put up one run each in the 2nd and 3rd innings before the Railroaders marked up one score in the bottom of the 3rd. Hoptown scored another run in the 6 to take a 3-1 lead and continued to hold Fulton at bay until the bottom of the 9th inning. The Railroaders loaded the bases in the final innings and got one run across the plate with a sacrifice fly with one out. A hit batter loaded the bases once again but closer Tyler Vails struck out the final batter to secure the win and earn a save. Will Hammock pitched a strong game for Hopkinsville giving up 4 hits, striking out 6, and 2 walks. The one run scored against Hammock was unearned and he gets the win. Fulton's starter Cory Klinger labored hard through 5 2/3 innings throwing 123 pitches, giving up 7 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 6 walks and striking out one batter, and takes the loss. 

     Offensively for Hoptown, Fernando Tanaka led the way going 3 for 3 and 2 RBI's. Nolan Fisher and Seth Bancroft each got 2 hits and Bobby Clark drove in the Hoppers' 3rd run. On Fulton's side, Mikee Moore was 3 for 5, but Rob Hogenkamp accounted for the Railroaders' runs with 2 RBI's batting 0 for 4 with Rick Linton scoring both times off a ground out and sacrifice fly. The loss sends Fulton back into 5th place in the standings, only a half game behind both Owensboro and Madisonville, and 3 1/2 games from the leader Hopkinsville.
