The  Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 13-1

The Hoptown Hoppers scored in each of the first seven innings and held visiting Owensboro to four hits en route to the 13-1 win Wednesday.

Hoptown led 3-0 going into the third inning, when the Hoppers broke the game open by getting six consecutive hits to open the frame, producing four runs. Five of the Hoppers' eight innings featured at least seven batters.

     Hoptown was led at the plate by Nolan Fisher, who went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in the six inning, an RBI double in the first, scored two runs and drove in four. Brett Pirtle went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and a run batted in, while Matt McGowan went 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. Fernando Tanaka hit a double for the Hoppers, while Colin Bucker doubled for the Oilers.

     Jason McDonald got the win on the mound for Hoptown, allowing one unearned run on three hits, striking out three and walking four in six innings. Kyle Barbee got the save, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out two and walking one in three innings.

     Austin Pittman took the loss for the Oilers, allowing eight runs (five earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking two in four innings. Colton Slank came on in the fifth, allowing five runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking none in three innings. Luke Daugherty closed out the game for Owensboro, allowing no hits and striking out two in one inning. The run total could have easily been greater for both teams, as Hoptown left 13 runners on base and Owensboro stranded eight.
