The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Marion Bobcats, 7-6
The Railroaders came from behind to beat the Bobcats for the first time in 2012, and extend their winning streak to 4 games. Marion jumped to a 3-0 lead in the 3rd innings using 2 singles, a walk and a double with 2 outs. The Bobcats added 2 more in the 4th with another RBI double and one scored off the only Railroader error for a 5-0 lead. Fulton cut the lead to 2 by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th with a 2 RBI double and RBI single. The Railroaders took advantage of a Bobcat error in the 5th to score 1 run and tied the game at 5 all in the 6th off a solo homerun by Brandon Shaw, his second in as many nights. In the top of the 7th, the Bobcats re-took the lead at 6-5 with a Tyler Bonaventure solo homer. The Railroaders came back in the bottom of the 8th to score 2 with a 2 RBI game winning single by Austin Bryant.
The Railroader offensive was lead by Brandon Shaw with his homerun, a double and 2 singles, going 4 for 4 with 3 RBI's and scoring twice at the plate. For the Bobcats; Tyler Bonaventrue was 3 of 4 with his homerun adding 3 RBI's and scoring home twice. Both teams had 11 hits each and both stranded 9 runners on base. The difference in the game came down to 3 errors for Marion and 1 for Fulton.
Roman Kelly started for Fulton but only made it through 3 /13 innings giving up 6 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), striking out and walking 3 each. Jonathon Williams takes the win throwing for 4 2/3 innings allowing only 1 earned run, 4 hits, striking out 6 with no walks. Daniel Szathmary (former Bobcat) earned a save finishing off the final inning for Fulton. Marion starter Caleb Luttrell pitched for 7 innings with 8 hits allowed, 5 runs (4 earned), walked and struck-out 2 each, and left the game with a 1 run Bobcat lead. James Dyer takes the loss throwing the final Railroader 8th inning, and was tagged for 3 hits and 2 earned runs.
The two teams had met 4 times prior to tonight's game with the Bobcats winning all four. The Railroaders take Tuesday off while the Bobcats return home after losing 4 straight to face off with the Oilers who have dropped 3 straight games.
