The Madisonville Pirates defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 10-4

The visiting Tradewater Pirates took advantage of some iffy Hoptown Hoppers pitching, as five straight Pirates batters walked to lead off the second inning, where they plated four runs en route to the 10-4 win, halting a six-game Hoptown sin streak Tradewater (10-9) took over second place in the Ohio Valley League, thanks to Marion's loss tonight. The Pirates are three games behind the league-leading Hoppers (13-6).

     Trevor Haggard went 4-for-5 for the Pirates with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in. Logan Leverett went 2-for-3 with a home run, a run and three RBIs. Ty Broady and Kyle Neimeier scored twice for Tradewater. Hoptown was paced by Kaleb Brown, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Jake Sandlin, who went 2-for-4 with a run.

     Michael Edwards got the win for Tradewater, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking three in 5-2/3 innings. Adrian LaRowe came on in the sixth and pitched into the seventh. Michael Purcell picked up the save for the Pirates, allowing no hits and striking out two in three innings.

     Jason McDonald took the loss for the Hoppers, allowing seven runs on five hits, striking out four and walking seven in four innings. Tyler Vails came on in the fifth, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out one in four innings. Layne Cecil closed out the game for Hoptown, allowing one run on two hits and walking two batters in the ninth inning. The game was played before a crowd of 546 fans.
