The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 6-0

(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers were shutout Saturday night at home by the visiting Hoptown Hoppers of Hopkinsville. The final score was 6 to 0. Hopkinsville scored two runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Cameron Olsen singled and stole second base. Olsen was batted in on a Collin Massanelli RBI single. Massanelli was driven in on a RBI single by Anthony Mazzella. The Hoppers added a run in the top of the 4th inning. Nolan Fisher singled, was sacrifice bunted to second base, stole and stole third base. With two outs, he came in on another RBI single by Mazzella.
     The score remained 3-0 for Hopkinsville until they posted two runs in the top of the 8th inning. Robert Friedlein doubled. One out later a RBI single by pinch-hitter Philip Menou plated Friedlein. Seth Bancroft followed with a double to put runners on second base and third base with one out. Massanelli was intentionally walked to load the bases. The move led to an out, but in the form of Mazzella's third RBI of the game for the sacrifice fly the brought in Menou. The Hoppers scored once more in the top of the 9th inning. Fernando Tanaka began their at bat with a single. He advanced to second base on an error, moved to third base on a groundout, then scored on a separate error. They maintained the shutout for the 6-0 final.
     Hoppers starter Will Hammock pitched eight strong innings for the win. Oilers starter Tim Johnson offered a better than quality start but took the loss.
