The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Marion Bobcats, 10-6

(Summary from Marion, game played in Hopkinsville) July started no better for the Bobcats than June ended. On Sunday, Marion traveled to Hopkinsville to face the top team in the league and left having lost seven of their last eight and falling two games below .500 and 5.5 games out of first place.
     Hoptown jumped on Marion pitching in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead, but fell behind 3-2 after three innings. However, in the bottom of the fourth, the Hoppers would tack on four more runs off Marion starter David Roper (2-3) for a 6-3 lead and would never look back. They added three more runs in the fifth off Roper before Marion's bats struck put up a three-spot in the top of the sixth on a three-run blast off the bat of Tyler Bonaventure that moved the scored to 9-6 in favor of the home team. However, that would be all the offense the Bobcats could muster in the game and the Hoppers added a final run off Marion's bullpen in the next half inning.
     Tyler Bernard was a perfect 3-for-3 for Marion with his league-leading seventh double. He also scored two runs. Bonaventure added a single to his home run in five trips to the plate and score two runs as well. Leadoff hitter Derek Hannahs, who went 0-for-3, scored two of his own runs regardless of a hitless night at the plate. Clint Ambrosch was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Greg Liming and Brandon Ollet also added an RBI each.
