The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 15-9

(From Fulton) In a marathon game of almost 4 hours with a delay of 30 minutes, the Railroaders won over the Oilers in Fulton. Together both teams produced 33 hits to go with 24 batters crossing the plate.

     The Oilers started the scoring in the first inning with 3 runs off three hits and a Fulton error. The Railroaders answered in the bottom of the inning with a 3 RBI homerun by Angelo Burrage, his fifth on the season. Fulton broke the 3-3 tie in the 2nd after Brandon Shaw doubled and scored from a Austin Bryant RBI single. Owensboro responded in the top of the third using 4 singles and 2 walk-in runs scoring three to take a short term 6-4 lead. The Railroaders quickly came back on the bottom half of the third to put up 3 more after two outs on a RBI single and 3 Oiler errors, and re-took a 7-6 lead.

     In the middle of the fourth inning the game was delayed as the home plate umpire suddenly became ill and had to be tended to by medical personnel. He left the field ok but had to be replaced by another umpire.

     The Railroaders extended their lead in the 5th scoring three more from 4 singles and another Owensboro error. Behind by 4, the Oilers came back in the 7th to make it a game scoring two runs with Tyler Tichenor reaching on a single and driven in by a Tyler Grogg triple. Grogg then scored off a Austiin Edge RBI single. Bottom of the 8th, the Railroaders pulled ahead with 5 more runs that included a base clearing triple by Brock Downey for 3 runs. The Oilers put up their final score in the 9th with a lead off homerun by Matt Johnson, but not nearly enough of overcome the final 15-9 Fulton victory.

     Fulton's offensive was lead by Rob Hogenkamp at 4 of 5, 2 RBI and 2 scores, Burrage was 2 for 3, with 4 RBI and one score, and Downey 2 for 3, 3 RBI and one score. Brandon Shaw and Jack Henry Jones both scored 3 times and each had  2 hits. Andrew Cash was perfect at 3 for 3 and one score.

     For Ownensboro; John Saylor had 3 RBI going 1 of 3, Tichenor was 3 for 4 with a RBI and scored once, Malduino Gonzalez went 3 for 5 and two runs scored, and Grogg was 2 of 4, two scores and 2 RBI. 

     Tyler Saltsman earned the win on the mound for Fulton going for 5 1/3 innings. Shane Weedman takes the loss lasting only 3 innings and tagged for 7 runs with only 2 earned.
