The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Marion Bobcats, 9-3
In 7 innings. (From Fulton) The Railroaders swept the Bobcats in a doubleheader in Fulton on Friday, and picked up a half game on the Hoppers who beat the Oilers in one game on the same night. Slight hope remains for Fulton should the Hoppers loss their final 4 remaining games, but Fulton will need to wins all 4 of their remaining games.
In game one the Railroaders took a 5-0 lead after two innings scoring 3 in the first and 2 in the second innings. The Bobcats put up 3 runs in the top of the fourth, and the Railroaders answered with 2 more in the bottom half of the inning. Fulton added another 2 runs in the 5th to complete the final 9-3 score.
Railroaders offensive consisted of 13 hits led by Angelo Burrage going 3 for 4, with 3 RBI and one run scored, followed by Rob Hogenkamp who was 2 of 4 with three runs scored. The Bobcats managed 4 hits with only 1 RBI produced from Spencer Wilson going 1 for 3 on the evening.
Cory Klinger threw an outstanding complete 7 inning game for the win, striking out 12 batters, giving up only one walk and no earned runs. Klinger finished the game with 94 pitches, throwing 74 strikes and only 20 balls in the game. Sean Fitzgerald takes the loss for Marion on the mound going 3 1/3 innings being hit 8 times for 7 runs (6 earned), with 2 strikeouts and walks each.
