The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Marion Bobcats, 4-2

The Hoppers take the first game in round two of the Playoffs against the Bobcats in Marion.

     Hoptown punched out their first runs in the 4th inning after Matt McGowan walked followed by a Jake Sandlin single. Both were moved forward one base by a Philip Menou sacrifice bunt, then Brad Sevenish stepped to the plate and banged a 3 RBI home run. The Bobcats scored their first run in the 5th with Spencer Wilson reaching on a fielder's choice and advancing to 3rd base on two Hoptown errors. Derek Hannahs drove in Wilson with a two out RBI single.

     The Hoppers added a run in the 8th inning after Matt McGowan led off with a single, reached 3rd on an error and scored during a doubleplay by the Bobcats. Bottom of the 9th, Marion managed their last run with Dave Murphy leading off with double and scoring from a RBI single by Derek Hannahs.

     Joshua Tanski earned the win pitching 8 full innings giving up 7 hits, one unearned run, no walks and 6 strikeouts. Tyler Vails took a save pitching the finally inning. Darren Travers takes the loss pitching a complete 9 inning game allowing 5 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks, and striking out 6 batters.

     The teams meet again on Thursday in Hopkinsville for the second game of the best of three in Round 2 of the Post Season Playoffs.
