The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 4-0

(From Hopkinsville) The Fulton Railroaders broke open a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with back-to-back-to-back doubles and used solid pitching to maintain the shutout over the Hoptown Hoppers 4-0 Tuesday night. 

     Fulton (1-2) got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning when the Railroaders got two-out doubles from Taylor Douglas, Cody Burton and Kyle Simmons, and Matt Skrzpiec reached on a two-base error to give Fulton a 3-0 lead.

     The Railroaders spotted a run in the ninth inning when Colton Simbeck reached on an error, stole second, took third on a passed ball and scored on a bunt single by Taylor Stoulp. Fulton had five batters with one hit each. Stoulp and Josh Bynum each had singles for the Railroaders. 

     For Hopkinsville (0-2), Matt McGowan, Derek Ferch, Ryne Long, Kyle Barbee and Brandon Boggetto each had singles.

     On the mound, Garrett Ring got the win for Fulton , allowing no runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking two in 8 2/3 innings. Brandon Diaz pitched in the ninth, and Caleb Shelley closed the game, striking out one. 

     For the Hoppers, Cole Isom took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out seven and walking two in 4 2/3 innings. Trevor Blocker came on in the fifth, striking out two in 2 2/3 innings. Dustin Tuck pitched the eighth inning, allowing one unearned run on no hits and two walks, and Barbee pitched the ninth inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.
