The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 3-0

(From Hopkinsville) The host Hoptown Hoppers were able to put together three runs, and four Hoptown pitchers combined for a six-hit shutout as Hoptown won its second game over first-place Dubois County 3-0.

     The game played Monday was a make-up game that was originally scheduled for June 6, but was postponed by rain.

     The Hoppers (3-3) scored in the first inning when Mitch Huckabay led off with a walk, was sacrificed to second, stole third base and scored on a sac fly to give Hoptown an early 1-0 lead.

     Hoptown struck again in the fourth inning when Brandon Boggetto hit a one-out single and stole second. He was doubled in by Brad Sevenish, who went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single by Huckabay for the final tally.

     On the mound, Justin Hageman got the win in his first game for the Hoppers, allowing three hits, striking out four and walking three in five innings. Geordie Carlson came on in the sixth, allowing three hits, striking out three and walking two in two innings. Kyle Barbee pitched the eighth inning, striking out one and walking one, and Ryne Long pitched the ninth inning and got the save, striking out one. 

     Tyler Mitchell took the loss in the start for the Bombers (5-3), allowing three runs on five hits, striking out one and walking four in 4 2/3 innings. Johnathan Williams pitched the rest of the game for Dubois County, allowing one hit, striking out three and walking one in 3 1/3 innings. At the plate, Boggetto went 2-for-3 wth a double to lead Hoptown. Sevenish also doubled for the Hoppers.

     Eric McKibban went 3-for-4 for the Bombers, while Shain Showers picked up a double.
