The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 10-5
(From Fulton) The Railroaders (5-6) got their first season win over the Bombers (7-5) in the 4th meeting between the two clubs. Fulton jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the first inning of play. The Bombers put up their first run in the 3rd inning, adding three more in the 4th to tie the game 4-4. Dubois County took the lead in the 6th inning scoring one, only to see Fulton tie it back up off a solo homerun by Colton Simbeck to leadoff the bottom half of the inning.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the 8th when Evan Smith (3 of 5 and 3 RBI) singled and drove in the game winning RBI from 3rd base with the bases loaded. Taylor Douglas followed at the plate and hit the second pitch over the center field wall for a grand slam, and topped off the final score 10-5. The Railroaders totaled 15 hits, stranded 13 runners and had 2 errors.
For the Dubois County; Hamilton Carr accounted for two of the Bombers' 6 total hits, and Casey Ryan (1 of 5) had 2 RBI. The Bombers left 9 on base and also had 2 errors on the evening.
No decision for both starters; Brandon Diaz for Fulton went 3 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, striking out 5, walking 3 and tagged for 4 unearned runs, and Ty Simpson threw for 6 innings, gave up 12 hits, struck out 8, walked one and 5 runs scored (4 earned). The win goes to Ryan Skoubo pitching the final 2 innings, and the loss to Spencer Sapp in middle relief going only 1 1/3 innings.
