The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 9-7

(From Fulton)  The Railroaders (5-7) played catch up with the Hoppers (7-5) to only fall short by 2 runs. Hoptown jump out to a 4 run lead in the 1st inning with the Railroaders answering with 2 in the bottom half of the first. The Hoppers put another run across in the 3rd as well as the Railroaders in the latter half of the inning.  Hoptown took a 7-3 lead in the 5th inning scoring two more. Fulton tied the game up in the 7th with a pair of homeruns yielding 4 runs. The Hoppers squeezed 2 more in the 8th inning for the final 9-7 win for Hoptown.

     Four Railroader errors resulted in 4 unearned runs for Hoptown and was the difference in the game. The Hoppers committed 2 errors but only allowed one unearned run.

     Middle reliever Geordie Carlson gets the win for Hoptown for 2 innings of work, and Ryne Long picked up a save to close out the final inning. Sean Cunningham takes the hard loss in middle relief going 3 1/3 innings on the mound.

     Both teams got 10 hits each as well as 7 each RBI.  For the Hoppers; John Beary, Brandon Boggetto, and Derek Ferch each got 2 hits with one RBI and scored once. For Fulton; Cody Burton was 3 of 6 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored and Colton Simbeck 2 for 3, 2 RBI and scored one, both players hitting the 7th inning homers. 

     With the win, the Hoppers move into 2nd place in the standings past Owensboro and Dubois County who lost their games on Saturday, and one game behind Madisonville in first.
