The Madisonville Pirates defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 7-5
(From Madisonville) The Pirates won a back-and-forth ballgame tonight over the Owensboro Oilers, 7-5, at Elmer Kelley Stadium.
Madisonville took an early 1-0 when Ty Broady scored on Dathan Prewett's ground ball in the bottom of the 1st inning. Owensboro answered with three runs in the 4th, with Cody Rogers, Hunter Newman, and Christian McHatton all scoring.
Madisonville responded with one run from Dathan Prewett in the bottom of the inning, making the score, 3-2, in favor of the Oilers. The Pirates took the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the Fifth; but, Owensboro scored two in the top of the Sixth to reclaim the lead, 5-4.
The Pirates fought back with two in the bottom of the 7th, making the score 6-5, and then tacked on one more in the bottom of the 8th for the final margin of 7-5.
Madisonville reliever Samuel Gilbert got the Win, with CJ Schildt picking up a Save. Brent Elder, on in relief of Oiler starter Shane Weedman, took the Loss.
