The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 2-1
(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers won the Thursday night home game, edging the visiting Fulton Railroaders by the final score of 2 to 1.
The Oilers scored one run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Cameron Wallace led off with a single. Wallace moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt, and to third base on a groundout. He scored as Tyler Tichenor reached on an error.
The game -- defined by pitching and missed offensive opportunities -- continued 1-0 for Owensboro until Fulton put together its run in the top of the 9th inning. With one out, Cody Burton and Taylor Stoulp singled back to back. Colton Simbeck was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Fulton newcomer Michael Sillyman reached on a RBI fielder's choice that scored Burton, but put Simbeck out at second base. A strike out ended the rally, but the game was tied 1-1.
The Oilers prevailed with one run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Brent Carmichael led off with a walk. He moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt. A fly out later, Christian McHatton knocked a RBI single past the oustretched shortstop and the speedy Carmichael scored from second base.
Owensboro reliever Kellon Hibbard -- who came in with a save in mind -- became the winner instead. The Fulton starter, Isaac Behme went the entire 8.67 innings on the mound for the Railroaders, and surrendered only three hits, but got the loss.
