The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 3-0
(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers won their Tuesday night home game with the visiting Dubois County Bombers. The final score was 3 to 0 -- a shutout win for the Oilers.
The Oilers scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. With one out, Taylor Matthews bunted his way on, and stole second base. With two outs, Christian McHatton and Logan Leverett walked back to back, loading the bases. Matthew Johnson followed by reaching on an error which allowed both Matthews and McHatton to score. At the end of the 6th inning the score was 2-0 for the home team.
Owensboro scored one insurance run in the bottom of the 8th inning. McHatton led off with a single. One out later, Johnson also singled, then gave way to pinch-runner Brendan Reid. With Dalton West showing squeeze bunt at the plate, the runners executed a double steal that scored McHatton ahead of the tag at the plate. The 3-0 score at the end of the 8th inning held up as final.
Owensboro starter Taylor Grisham went 7.67 scoreless innings for the win. Caleb McIntire completed the combined shutout for a save. Dubois County starter Spencer Sapp lost in spite of going the distance with a quality effort.
