The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Marion Bobcats, 8-6

(From Marion) The Bobcats dropped their sixth in a row in heartbreaking fashion Tuesday on a controversial home run in the top of the ninth that gave Hoptown all they would need to forge ahead to an 8-6 victory at Guess Field.
Marion (4-15) clawed it's way back from a 2-6 deficit to tie the game going into the final final frame, but with one on and two out in the top of the inning, the Hoptown batter hit a rope down the left field line that Bobcats manager Jake Long argued flew over the fence out of play just outside the foul pole. However, home plate umpire Brian Thomas called the ball fair, giving first-place Hopkinsville (13-6) a two-run lead and, ultimately, the win.
The Bobcats threatened in the bottom of the ninth, though. With two out, the tying run came to the plate in the person of Paul Angel, who had hit a two-run shot out of the park earlier in the night down the right field line. Down to his last strike after taking two rips at pitches, Angel was called out looking by Thomas on a third strike.
