The Madisonville Pirates defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 17-3
(From Madisonville) Madisonville defeats Owensboro at Elmer Kelley Stadium, 17-3. The game was ended with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning after a bench-clearing brawl. The brawl started when Oiler reliever Shawn Kahre hit Pirate batter Alfredo Bohorquez for the second time in consecutive innings.
At the plate, Joe Tipton scored five runs for the Pirates, and JT Arneman scored three runs and four-for-four at the plate. Bohorquez and Kyle DeMeo each had three RBI. For Owensboro, Hunter Newman had two RBI, and Tyler Tichenor scored two runs.
Pirate starter CJ Schildt II pitched six complete innings, allowing three runs (all earned) on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Schildt got the win, with Trent Benningfield pitching an inning of relief. Oiler starter Shane Weedman went two and two/thirds innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits and four walks. Weedman took the loss, with Caleb McIntire and Shawn Kahre making appearances.
