The Dubois County Bombers defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 4-3

(From Hopkinsville)  Visiting Dubois County scored three runs in the top of the third inning and added a much-needed insurance run in the top of the fifth to beat the Hoptown Hoppers 4-3.

     Dubois County got on the scoreboard first in the top of the third inning when Jacob Armstrong was hit by a pitch, went to second on a single by Casey Ryan, went to third on a single by Bo Ausmus and scored on a groundout. Andre Davis belted a two-out single to score Ryan and Ausmus to give the Bombers a 3-0 lead.

     Hoptown broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fourth inning when Seth Larue hit a two-out single, went to second on a single by John Beary and scored on a single up the middle by Matt McGowan to cut the Dubois County lead to 3-1.

The Bombers added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning when Eric McKibban was hit by a pitch, went to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Davis to push the Dubois County lead to 4-1.

     Hoptown scored in the bottom of the fifth inning when Brandon Boggetto hit a one-out single and took third on a failed pickoff attempt. Mitch Huckabay then walked, and both runners scored on a single by Larue to trim the Dubois County lead to 4-3.

Dubois County was led at the plate by Andre Davis, who went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in, and Rick Linton, who also went 2-for-4. Eric McKibban had a double for the Bombers.

     Hoptown was paced by Matt McGowan, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Seth Larue went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and John Beary went 2-for-4 for the Hoppers.

On the mound, Clint Chestnut (2-2) got the win in relief, allowing no runs on three hits, striking out three and walking two in 4 1/3 innings. A.J. Vasquez started for the Bombers, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking two in 4 2/3 innings.

     For the Hoppers, starter Geordie Carlson (2-2) took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out six and walking none in six innings. Trevor Blocker came on in the seventh, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out two and walking one in three innings.
