The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 7-2
(From Fulton) The Railroaders ended Hoptown's six game winning streak beating the Hoppers with a 7-2 score. Second place Fulton regained a game lost the night before. First place Hoptown is now 2 1/2 games ahead of Fulton who leads the season series between the two at 4-3. Two games remain between the two teams with one on tomorrow, Thursday, in Hopkinsville.
The Hoppers took a short lived lead in the first inning off a Brad Sevenish solo homerun Sevenish led Hoptowns' offense going 3 for 4 and scored both Hopper runs. Brandon Powell was 2 of 4 and had the RBI driving in Sevenish in the top of the ninth.
For Fulton; scoring tied the game with one run in the first, and two more runs in the second gave them a 3-1 lead. The Railroaders extended their lead in the fourth inning when Michael Diaz hit a 3 RBI homer. Diaz was 2 for 5 at the plate with 4 RBI and one score. The final Fulton score occurred in the fifth as Taylor Douglas hit a solo shot over the left/center wall for his 5th homer on the year. Douglas went 3 for 4, an RBI and one score.
Starter and winning pitcher Garrett Ring completed eight full innings giving up 6 hits, one run, two walks and had only one strikeout. Ring is now 4-1 on the season. Brandon Diaz finished off the ninth with two hits allowed, one unearned run and two strikeouts.
Hoptown starter Cole Isom takes the loss throwing for 5 innings and was hit 10 times for seven runs (one unearned), walked only one and struck out five. Kyle Barbee for two innings and Jake Bell for one finished the game holding the Railroaders scoreless for the final three innings.
