The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Madisonville Pirates, 6-4

(From Owensboro)  The Owensboro Oilers preserved enough of a large starting lead to win their Thursday night home game over the guest Madisonville Tradewater Pirates. The final score was 6 to 4 in Owensboro's favor.
     The Oilers scored first with one run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Tyler Shewmaker led off by reaching on an error. He moved around to third base on a walk and fielder's choice by consecutive batters. An RBI groundout by Cameron Wallace plated Shewmaker from third base. Owensboro added five runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Austin Edge led off hit by a pitch. Hunter Newman singled and Taylor Matthews reached on a bunt to load the bases. Logan Leverett followed with an RBI walk, scoring Edge. Shewmaker delivered a 2-RBI single that brought in Newman and Matthews. Brenden Reid walked to load the bases again. Tyler Tichenor RBI singled, getting Leverett in. With the bases still jammed, Wallace RBI walked to plate Shewmaker before a pop out and a live drive-turned double play closed the frame. After 4 innings the Oilers led 6 to 0.
     Madisonville got right back in the game with three runs in the top of the 5th inning. Garrett Emling led off with a single and Shawn Williamson bunted his way aboard. Cody White reached on an error that allowed Emling to score, and moved Williamson to third base. Williamson scored on a RBI sacrifice fly by Joe Tipton. Ty Broady followed with a RBI groundout for White's run. The Pirates rally made the game 6 to 3. Madisonville scored one more run in the top of the 8th inning. With one out, Robert Veltre walked. An out later, another walk pushed Veltre to second base. He scored on a RBI single from Emling. The score closed to a 6-4 home advantage, but got no closer than that.
     Starter Bo Lewington picked up the Owensboro win. Edwin Reyes got the save. Starter Tyler Thomas took the Madisonville loss.
