The Madisonville Pirates defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 4-3
From Dubois County) The Madisonville-Tradewater Pirates swiped another one run ball game from the Dubois County Bombers, winning, 4-3 on Sunday night. The Pirates most recently won in Huntingburg back on the 4th of July by one run. The Bombers now drop to (17-19) on the season and have dropped eleven one run contests on the season.
The Bombers were the first to score, in the 2nd inning, Andre Davis led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and after being batted over to third, scored on another wild pitch. Dubois County took a slim, 1-0 lead all the way into the 6th, as the Pirates scored a run to knot the game at, 1-1. Garrett Emling scored Robert Veltre with an RBI single in the 6th for the Pirates.
Back to back walks started a 7th inning rally in which the Pirates scored three runs to open the game, 4-1. Robert Veltre struck the Bombers with a 2 RBI double and Alfredo Bohorquez added a RBI single in the 7th for the Pirates. Dubois County decreased the margin to, 4-2 entering the 9th off a Andre Davis RBI single and threatened again in the final frame. Rick Linton roped a double into the gap to start the 9th for the Bombers and was brought home in the next at bat by Dane Giesler's RBI single. The rally continued with the Bombers loading the bases for RBI machine Andre Davis with two outs but Davis' line drive found the center fielder's glove to end the game, 4-3 Pirates.
Matt DeMeo earned the win, who came in the game in the 6th inning for starter Trent Benningfield. DeMeo worked into the 9th until he was relieved by Samuel Gilbert, who worked around a bases loaded jam to pick up the save. Kyle Briner took a tough loss for the Bombers tonight. He pitched the first six plus innings and came out with two runners on base. Thos runners came around to score in the 6th and handed Briner the tough loss. Beau Bowen threw the final two of a third innings for Dubois County.
