The Dubois County Bombers defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 5-0
(From Dubois County) It feels good to be back in the win column! Dubois County (18-21) snapped a five game losing streak, defeating Owensboro, 5-0. The Bombers are fighting for third place with Madisonville and Owensboro to host a playoff game.
Pitching dominated the game until the 8th inning, the Bombers led, 1-0 and scored four runs to put the game out of reach. Three of the four runs came unearned. Jarret Young and Shane Showers delivered RBI singles in the inning. Andre Davis then came in the game in the 9th, striking out two and locking up the, 5-0 win.
Rick Linton and Shain Showers paced the Bombers at the plate with two hits each. Linton had the only extra base hit of the game with a double and Showers singled twice and added a RBI. Hamilton Carr, who put the Bombers on top, 1-0 in the 3rd, Andre Davis, and Young had the other two hits for Dubois County.
Bombers newcomer Brian Page started the first four innings, holding the Oilers scoreless. Page got the no decision, although, he left the game winning, the starter is required to pitch, at least, the first five innings to earn a win. Jackson White came in the game in the 5th, lasting an inning plus to pick up the win and hand the ball to Clint Chestnut. Chestnut worked around the bases loaded to get out of the 6th. Andre Davis finished the game with two strikeouts in the 9th in relief of Chestnut.
