The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Marion Bobcats, 11-2

(From Hopkinsville) Hoptown pitcher Cole Isom pitched a gem, striking out 12 batters over seven innings to help the Hoppers to an 11-2 win over visiting Marion.

     Five Hoppers batters scored on wild pitches.

     Marion scored in the top of the first inning when Cody Brown drew a one-out walk followed by a single by Clint Ambrosch. Both runners scored on a double by Paul Angel to put the Bobcats ahead 2-0.

     Hoptown scored in the bottom of the third inning when Zac Carter led off with a walk, stole second, took third when the throw went into center field and scored on a single by John Beary to cut the Bobcats' lead to 2-1.

     The Hoppers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Zac Carter led off with a walk and went to second on a sacrifice bunt before Trevor Lowe was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up two bases on a failed pickoff attempt, allowing Carter to score, and Lowe scored on a wild pitch to put Hoptown ahead 3-2.

     Hoptown tacked on four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Henry Rowland, Brandon Powell and Brandon Boggetto walked and Rowland and Powell scored on separate wild pitches. Zac Carter walked, and Boggetto scored on a sac fly. Carter scored on a single by Trevor Lowe, putting the Hoppers ahead 7-2.

     Hoptown scored twice in the bottom of the seventh when Seth Larue reached on a fielder's choice and Brandon Powell hit a single. Both runners scored on separate wild pitches to give the Hoppers a 9-2 lead.

     Hoptown scored in the bottom of the eighth when Derek Ferch led off with a walk and scored when Trevor Lowe attempted a sac bunt and the throw went into the outfield. Lowe took third on an errant throw on the play and scored on a fielder's choice to put the Hoppers ahead 11-2.
