The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Marion Bobcats, 7-2
(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers won their Friday night game at home hosting the visiting Marion Bobcats by a 7-2 final score.
The Oilers got out to a an early lead with one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Bobcats showed they had come to play with a tying run in the top of the 3rd inning. The game went back and forth for a time, as Owensboro pushed across a run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Marion matched up with a run in the top of the 6th inning, and as late as six complete innings, the game was tied 2-2. The Oilers claimed the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and two runs in the bottom of the 8th.
Scoring for the Oilers were: Tyler Tichenor (2), Cameron Wallace, Cody Rogers, Logan Leverett (2), and Matthew Johnson. The four Owensboro RBIs belonged to: Tichenor, Dalton West, and Stone Osborne (2).
Scoring for the Bobcats were: Brooks Balisterri and Tyler Simmons. Marion RBIs belonged to: Paul Angel, and Scooter Hightower.
Owensboro starter Shane Weedman pitched 8 of 9 innings for the win. Jason Jones worked a perfect 9th to close. Bobcat starter Drew Shoulders lost, but provided a quality start before the home team finally got to him.
